United Regional Health Care System (Wichita Falls, Texas) is deploying a customized cart solution from Vernon Hills, Ill.-based CDW Healthcare that will enable electronic documentation at the patient bedside.

The documentation carts are equipped with laptops configured for wireless use, tablet PCs and washable keyboards and mice, and medication carts will include modular, pass-code-secured storage drawers and handheld scanners designed to enable medication administration. According to CDW, the implementation is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance patient care, reduce medication errors and transform the system’s clinical documentation into a completely paperless process.

A 565-bed acute-care facility, United Regional’s services include a lead Level III trauma center, cancer treatment center, cardiac and surgical services and a pediatric and Level II nursery.
