The Premier healthcare alliance (San Diego), an operator of a healthcare purchasing network and a national repository of hospital clinical and financial information, has launched a collaborative effort to help participating members achieve improvements in supply chain performance and efficiency.

According to Premier, participants using ASCEND (Accelerated Supply Chain Endeavor), a solution designed to improve the supply chain, will benefit from:

· Group purchasing programs specifically negotiated for ASCEND participants.

· Benchmarking metrics to assist in determining additional supply chain and operational cost savings opportunities.

· Knowledge sharing with other participants and industry experts.

The process of signing up participants has already begun, says the organization.
