Mitzi G. Cardenas has been hired as chief information officer (CIO) for Kansas City, Mo.-based Truman Medical Centers (TMC). She started in her new role in early March.

Cardenas will be a member of the senior leadership team and will be accountable for all planning, implementation, operations and evaluation of programs for information services. She will also define the IS department’s mission, vision and goals in regards to the overall TMC standards of practice and customer service requirements, according to the health system.

She has served in a number of leadership roles throughout her career, most recently as director of information systems for Children’s Medical Center Dallas in Texas.
