Illinois Hospital Automates Tracking in the OR

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital (Downers Grove, Ill.) has selected the Charlotte, N.C.-based Amelior ORTracker system from Patient Care Technology System (PCTS) to improve the efficiency and operating capacity of its 35,000-square-foot, 15-OR suite surgical services department.

According to the company, the hospital will initially track surgical trays and other movable medical equipment, and plans to expand to automatic patient tracking at a future date. PCTS will implement an active-RFID real-time locating network as part of the implementation.

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a 340-bed acute care facility located in Downers Grove, Illinois and is a member of Advocate Health Care. It is the only Level I Trauma Center and Level III Perinatal Center, and operates a nationally-recognized cardiac care program.
