San Mateo Medical Center, a 509-bed hospital with 11 clinics located in San Mateo, Calif., has purchased licenses of Westborough, Mass.-based eClinicalWorks EMR and practice management software for more than 160 affiliated providers.

According to the company, San Mateo will use eClinicalWorks’ patient portal for improving patient/provider communications. To facilitate a longitudinal continuum of care, an interface links the eClinicalWords application to the hospital’s Siemens Invision HIS. San Mateo is also utilizing e-prescribing, providing a link between the practices and the computer at the pharmacy.

The initiative is grant-funded.
