NCHICA Releases Security Template

The North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance Inc. (NCHICA) (Research Triangle Park, N.C), a nonprofit IT consortium for improving healthcare, has publicly released its security policy template for Managing Sensitive Electronic Information (SEI) on Portable Devices and Removable Media, including laptops, PDAs, USB drives and CD/DVDs.

The template details policies, standards and procedures for protecting SEI when its use is required outside of an enterprise's fixed security and firewall protection, says the consortium.

NCHICA says this comprehensive package helps manage risk associated with the deployment and storage of SEI, including individual health information or mission-critical business data.
