Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a Harvard-affiliated integrated public healthcare system, has launched the MyCHArt patient Web portal at all its primary care and specialty sites throughout Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s metro-north region. MyCHArt, a component of CHA’s electronic health record, enables patients to access their medical records and communicate securely online with their care team, increasing care coordination, quality, and convenience.

With MyCHArt, patients gain more control over their healthcare, with the ability to review their immunizations, lab results, and medications online. They may also seek medical advice, review instructions, renew medications, or request an appointment. Primary care patients throughout CHA may now sign up for the MyCHArt system.

CHA has successfully leveraged and harnessed health information technology to support its quality initiatives, decision-making efforts, and patient care programs. Over the past decade, it has made a major investment in electronic health records across its inpatient and ambulatory settings, resulting in higher health care quality, reduced health care costs, increased administrative efficiencies, and expanded access to affordable care.
