Chicago-based Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized several organizations for achieving EHR success in organizational, ambulatory, community health and public health settings.

The 2009 HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence winners are as follows:

  • Organizational: MultiCare Health System (Tacoma, Wash.), an integrated, not-for-profit organization that includes four hospitals, primary and urgent care clinics, home health and hospice programs serving four counties
  • Ambulatory: Virginia Women’s Center (Richmond, Va.), a provider of individualized obstetric and gynecologic care, with 26 physicians and 12 nurse practitioners at five clinical sites
  • Community Health: Urban Health Plan (Bronx, N.Y.), a network of federally qualified community health centers based in the South Bronx and Queens that aims to improve the health status of underserved communities; and Heart of Texas (Waco, Texas), a center that servers the target population of 90,200 residents of McLennan County living at or below the poverty line
  • Public Health: Boston Public Health Commission and Denver Public Health, a division within Denver Health and Hospital Authority.

Davies Award recipients will share their success stories at the 2010 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in March, 2010.
