The top three reasons healthcare providers gave for replacing clinical information systems (CIS) were flexibility/function, vendor commitment/delivery, and integration with ambulatory venues, according to research published by KLAS (Orem, Utah).
The report identified vendors that prospective provider organizations plan to purchase from, as well as which other vendors would be considered in the process. Respondents, many of whom were CIOs, were asked about perceived strengths and weaknesses of vendor systems and what drivers were involved in vendor selection, says KLAS. According to the results, 39 percent of respondents said that delivery was a main reason to avoid a vendor, while 29 percent of those that already have a CIS said they are looking to purchase.
Vendors qualifying for inclusion in the CIS study are Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE, McKesson, Meditech, QuadraMed, and Siemens.
