Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati announced it has selected Westborough, Mass.-based access governance, provisioning, and compliance provider Courion Corporation’s AccountCourier user provisioning solution to enhance its identity and access management (IAM) and risk management strategies by automating provisioning for its 6,000 employees and by increasing adherence to compliance requirements.
The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati is an integrated healthcare delivery system consisting of University Hospital, Drake Center, West Chester Medical Center, and the Alliance Primary Care group. The Health Alliance is also affiliated with the University of Cincinnati (UC) Physicians, the multispecialty practice group for the UC College of Medicine.
The Health Alliance was dissatisfied with the accuracy and enterprise functionality of its existing provisioning solution and was also unhappy with the lack of system flexibility, scalability, and transparency the solution provided. Although they had an automated provisioning solution in place, the Health Alliance was still creating, modifying and terminating user accounts manually – a time-consuming, costly process prone to error. Manual provisioning processes were making it difficult for the Information Technology (IT) staff to identify which users had access to what information and to adhere to compliance requirements such as HIPAA and privacy laws.
Courion’s feature-rich provisioning solution will enable the Health Alliance to automate its IAM processes, resulting in timely provisioning of new users and users who have changed business roles, as well as deprovisioning of terminated users.
