Tufts Medical Center (Boston) and the New England Quality Care Alliance, Inc. (NEQCA, Braintree, Mass.), the physician network of Tufts, are deploying EMR/PM software from Westborough, Mass.-based eClinicalWorks to improve efficiency and patient care in both the academic and community settings, says the company.

The new software will connect community physicians with local hospitals and the academic center through a secure patient portal. It is designed to streamline clinical processes between practice locations and promote patient safety while reducing costs, according to the company.

Tufts is a not-for-profit, 451-bed academic medical center that includes both a full-service hospital for adults and Floating Hospital for Children, the principal pediatric teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine.

NEQCA is a non-profit, physician network funded by Tufts Medical Center and Primary Care, LLC. It is comprised of approximately 230 primary care physicians.
