Health Level Seven (HL7), a healthcare IT standards development organization, has appointed John Quinn as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Quinn, who is currently CTO of New York-based Accenture's US Provider Practice, will immediately assume the responsibilities of CTO of HL7, says the organization. A final agreement with Accenture will be signed within the next few weeks.

In his role as HL7 CTO, Quinn will implement HL7's product and services strategy in conjunction with the CEO, oversee the timely delivery of standards, and report on progress of key initiatives and specifications to the membership and stakeholders, says Ann Arbor, Mich.-based HL7.
