John Glaser, Ph.D., vice president and CIO at Partners HealthCare System Inc. and CHIME Fellow, has been named as a co-chair for the National Alliance for Health Information Technology (NAHIT) along with George Lynn, former chief executive and president of AtlantiCare and past chairman of the American Hospital Association (AHA).
According to NAHIT, the leadership moves are part of a strategy it has developed to promote and influence the efficient and effective use of health IT to achieve safer, higher-quality and more affordable care. The changes, it says, support a sharpened focus on the intersection of health IT and healthcare delivery.
The board of directors also named Jane Horowitz, formerly NAHIT’s vice president and chief marketing officer, as its new COO, and UCLA Medical Sciences CIO and CHIME chairman Rodney Dykehouse has joined NAHIT’s board.
NAHIT has established formal alliances with the AHA and CHIME to strengthen its efforts in addressing health IT as a strategic issue for senior executives, it says. AHA is providing core staff, back-office support and other services that provide connections to distribution and education channels and linkages with leaders across the field, while CHIME will contribute full-time staff and functional support for key NAHIT member services such as education, communication, Web site and content development and connections.
