CHIME Names Scholarship Winners

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME, Ann Arbor, Mich.) announced the winners of the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Alumni

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME, Ann Arbor, Mich.) announced the winners of the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Alumni Scholarship, CHIME Edge Scholarship and CHIME Women’s CIO Scholarship.

Robert Eardley, Diatta Harris and Nanda Lahoud, were each awarded the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Alumni Scholarship. This scholarship is given to graduates of the CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp who have not yet progressed to the CIO position, and whose education, aptitude, experience and values are consistent with the CHIME Seven CIO Success Factors, says the organization. The scholarship is given in the amount of $2,500 and may be used for CHIME educational programs.

Eardley, who serves as associate CIO at University Hospitals in Cleveland, attended the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp in 2006. Harris is director of information technology at Erickson Retirement Communities in Catonsville, Md. She attended the Healthcare CIO Boot Camp in 2005. Lahoud, who works as administrative director, value realization at Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas, completed the program in 2008.

The CHIME Edge Scholarship was given to Carol Roosa, CIO at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, N.H. The scholarship is designed to help CHIME members at small and/or rural organizations attend CHIME events.

The first CHIME Women’s CIO Scholarship was awarded to Bridget Haggerty, vice president and CIO at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Ore. This scholarship is designed to enable more women CIOs to excel and progress in the healthcare IT industry by offering a $2,500 scholarship toward programs offered by CHIME, CHIME partners or accredited educational institutions, it states.
