In an effort to improve patient access, clinical operations, and further ability for physicians to seek government incentives for higher quality of care, Barrington, Ill.’s GE Healthcare IT is rolling out two new initiatives:
  • Simplified Process for Physician Participation in Quality Reporting — Single Submission point to use Centricity EMR for PQRI reimbursements
  • Launch of Centricity Business V 4.3 with improvements to revenue cycle and patient access

The former provides single submission point for physician quality reporting initiative (PQRI) using Centricity EMR and Centricity practice solution. The initiative is designed to simplify physician participation in Medicare’s PQRI. In addition, GE Healthcare’s Medical Quality Improvement Consortium (MQIC) quality data system was selected by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services as a reporting registry for the 2008 program, which GE says it expects to continue in 2009. According to the company, the initiative will streamline quality reporting for Centricity EMR and Centricity Practice Solution customers that submit for eligible financial incentives through the MQIC registry.

In addition, the company has launched a new version of Centricity Business for enterprise revenue cycle and patient access. The new Centricity Business version 4.3 for revenue cycle management, patient access and managed care is designed to help drive efficiency and enhance services for academic medical centers, hospitals and hospital networks, and large practices in the United States, the company touts. The new release is currently live at multiple Centricity Business customer sites.
