Doctors who electronically prescribe through the Rochester Regional Health Information Organization of N.Y. can view all the medicines that their patients take through Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (Rochester, N.Y.), the company says.

Connected through San Jose, Calif.-based Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange and EMR Lite software, physicians use the Rochester RHIO to receive electronic lab test results, radiology reports and medication history while ordering prescriptions or providing other medical care, the company claims.

The RHIO links to the Rx-Hub Pharmacy Health Information Exchange, which connects providers, pharmacies and payers. Area physicians connected to the Rochester RHIO will see the previous two years of medication history for patients in the Greater Rochester area from Excellus BCBS, Preferred Care and other insurers, it claims. Rochester RHIO serves health providers in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates counties.
