The province of British Columbia has selected Alpharetta, Ga-based First Consulting Group (FCG) and Markham, Ontario-based Sun Microsystems (B.C.) Inc. to develop and implement an interoperable Electronic Health Record (iEHR) system.

As part of the project, FCG states it will implement its FirstGateways software solution to provide a shared electronic record system.

According to FCG, Sun Microsystems will design, build, and implement the underlying identity management and access management solution for the iEHR, as well as the complete hardware and software infrastructure required to connect local health data systems.

The iEHR project will also utilize the Sun Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java CAPS) for application development and management, allowing the re-use and expansion of new and existing applications, says FCG.
