Merge Healthcare, a Chicago, Ill.-based provider of enterprise imaging and interoperability products, announced today that it has selected Dell Inc. for its cloud computing services, storage and enterprise hardware products.

Dell’s Unified Clinical Archive product allows more than four billion medical images and studies for healthcare organizations. Utilizing its cloud-based health information technology, Dell will host Merge Healthcare's Project Honeycomb, a medical image sharing network. With Project Honeycomb, providers can freely upload, download, view and share diagnostic quality medical images.

For providers who want on-premise image management, Merge has certified its iConnect Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) on Dell's DX Object Storage platform, providing storage, protection and distribution for the fixed digital image content managed by Merge Healthcare's iConnect VNA. The data and storage management features inherent in Dell's systems will be combined with Merge's iConnect.
