Cal eConnect, the non-profit organization designated by the State of California to facilitate a health information exchange, has named Ted Kremer, MPH, as the organization's new president and CEO, as per its board of directors.

According to Cal eConnect, Kremer has experience in health information technology and exchange startups, most recently serving as executive director of the Rochester Regional Health Information Organization, Rochester, New York. He will assume the post April 10.

"Ted is known in the industry as a true visionary and for his ability to get things done. With the Rochester RHIO he created an organization that leads New York and most of the nation in making progress in a relatively short time. He has the experience, passion, and energy we need to make health information exchange (HIE) a reality in California,” Don Crane, Cal eConnect Board co-chair and president and CEO of the California Association of Physician Group, said in a statement.

This past August, Carladenise Edwards, Ph.D., left her post as president and CEO of the non-profit organization. Laura Landry has served as interim CEO and will continue to assist with Cal eConnect's efforts.

"I am delighted to serve California in this capacity," stated Kremer. "The state is known for innovation and I believe we can make a huge difference in how health care is delivered through our efforts to make critical patient data available to providers at the time and place it is needed."
