The New York City-based Mount Sinai Medical Center and Real Time Medical, a diagnostic imaging workflow innovation company from Toronto, have announced a joint collaboration project to provide teleradiology services to several New York imaging clinics.

While leveraging existing technologies, Mount Sinai seeks to eliminate manual workflow steps between the institution and remote locations, unify disparate systems, and provide timely access to diagnostic reports. This project is to be accomplished with Real Time Medical’s workflow management software platform, DiaShare.

“Fine-tuning clinical productivity through workflow management software is still a newer concept,” David Mendelson, M.D., director of clinical informatics at Mount Sinai and the co-chair for Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), said in a statement. “We are pleased to collaborate with Real Time Medical as we aim to eliminate unnecessary steps that impact productivity.”

The Mount Sinai Medical Center encompasses The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and is a 1,171-bed tertiary-care teaching facility. Last year, nearly 60,000 people were treated at Mount Sinai as inpatients, and there were nearly 450,000 outpatient visits to the Medical Center.
