US Radiology Specialists Plans to Open 12 Imaging Centers in 2025
US Radiology Specialists Inc., one of the nation’s largest providers of outpatient medical imaging, recently opened a new imaging center in Waco, Texas, marking the company’s eighth center opening since October 2024 and its fourth new center in 2025.
In total, US Radiology expects to open 12 new centers in 2025, including five in joint venture partnerships with health systems, to add to the company’s total of 183 imaging centers across 13 states.
The Raleigh, N.C.-based company noted that freestanding outpatient imaging centers like those operated by US Radiology offer patients convenient and typically lower-cost alternatives to hospital-based medical imaging.
“At US Radiology, our mission is to expand access to high-quality imaging to improve the lives of the patients we serve,” said Caitlin Zulla, CEO of US Radiology, in a statement. “By executing on our de novo strategy in areas that are currently underserved by freestanding outpatient imaging centers, we further that mission and bring our services closer to those who need them most. We’re excited to be on track to meet our 2025 expansion goals and see significant opportunity for continued de novo growth in years ahead.”
In January 2025 Zulla became CEO, succeeding Lee Cooper, who has led the organization since 2023. Cooper returned to his previous role of board chair. Zulla came to US Radiology after serving as CEO of Optum Health East, where she oversaw healthcare delivery across 10 states. Prior to that, she was CEO of SCA Health, a company in the ambulatory surgery industry, overseeing more than 320 surgical facilities.
