Albany Med Partners With Honest Health on Value-Based Care
Albany Med Health System, the largest nonprofit health system in northeastern New York and western New England, is partnering with Honest Health, a value-based care enablement organization.
The organizations said that Nashville-based Honest Health will empower the Albany Med Health System's physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses with real-time insights, predictive analytics, and population health management strategies.
The Albany Med Health System has 1,520 hospital beds, more than 800 physicians, 125 outpatient locations, a children's hospital, and research enterprise.
"The Albany Med Health System is committed to delivering the highest quality of care to the communities we serve," said Dennis P. McKenna, M.D., president and CEO of the Albany Med Health System, in a statement. "Through our partnership with Honest Health, we are ensuring our providers have access to innovative solutions that enhance patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and create a more sustainable future for health care in our region."
With initial focus on traditional Medicare, a key aspect of this partnership includes a shared commitment to clinical and financial accountability, ensuring that both organizations are aligned in delivering measurable improvements in care, the organizations said.
"At Honest Health, we believe that true transformation in healthcare happens when physicians have the right tools and resources to focus on value over volume," said Robert Bessler, M.D., chief executive officer of Honest, in a statement. "Partnering with Albany Med Health System represents a shared commitment to building a sustainable, patient-first model of care that improves quality, enhances efficiency, and supports providers every step of the way."
Bessler joined Honest in 2024, succeeding Aric Coffman, M.D., as CEO. Previously, Bessler founded Sound Physicians, a physician led multi- specialty medical group, where he served as the CEO and chairman for 22 years.
Honest was founded in 2021 by Adam Boehler, Abe Sutton, and Matt Kim, the founders of Rubicon Founders, a healthcare investment firm. Boehler was the director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in the first Trump administration, while Sutton now leads CMMI in the second Trump administration.
In performance year 2023, Honest said that its ACOs achieved an average quality score of 97.7% and a Medicare savings rate of 5.9%.
