For more than a decade, Healthcare Informatics has honored those at the forefront of healthcare IT innovation with its Innovator Awards signature issue. What's more, in the past few years, Healthcare Informatics has expanded this issue into an awards event tied into the annual HIMSS conference to further recognize exceptional achievement in advancing and directing the course of the industry.
Indeed, for the January/February issue of HCI, our editors profiled the projects of four pioneering teams—UT Southwestern Medical Center, Scottsdale Health Partners, the Indiana Health Information Exchange, and Penn Medicine. Each of these teams is showing the way to the future, through replicable innovations that are providing their peers nationwide with case studies that could help improve outcomes, increase efficiency, and bend the cost curve, along multiple dimensions, U.S. healthcare system-wide. All of these teams, as well as the eight semifinalists in this year’s program, will additionally be recognized by the Healthcare Informatics editorial team at the 2016 Innovator Awards and Leading Edge Awards Reception during HIMSS16 in Las Vegas.
In this latest edition of the Healthcare Informatics Podcast, HCI Editor-in-Chief Mark Hagland and Managing Editor Rajiv Leventhal take a deeper look at what was so uniquely special about this year’s winners. In addition, Hagland and Leventhal give a quick preview of what to expect at the upcoming HIMSS conference.
