Changes Made to Leapfrog’s Hospital Survey Design

The non-profit group representing purchasers has significantly modified the design of its survey

As Matt McKenzie, Associate Editor of Healthcare Innovation’s sister publication Healthcare Purchasing News, reported on April 1, the Washington, D.C.-based Leapfrog Group, the nationwide non-profit organization representing the interest of purchasers in hospital performance, has made changes to its 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which measures quality. 

As McKenzie noted, “This year, Leapfrog received over 800 public comments,” and incorporated those comments into its survey design. Among the numerous changes for this year’s survey include “updated reporting policy following cybersecurity events and natural disasters;” “updated questions for Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA);” “removal of procedure codes for Hospital and Surgeon Volume;” and the “addition of CPT procedure codes for Volume of Procedures.”
