Innovation: At the Heart of Healthcare Advance

With the shift from volume to value beginning to take place now in earnest in the U.S. healthcare industry, there has never been a better time to showcase innovation. For the past nine years, we, the editors of Healthcare Innovation (until January of this year, Healthcare Informatics ) have been recognizing teams of innovators in healthcare organizations nationwide, celebrating their advances in every area of patient care delivery, care coordination, data exchange, finance, and operations.

This year, we’ve decided to enhance what had been our Innovator Awards Program—whose annual awards have been presented in the spring of each year—with a periodic showcase of case studies of provider achievements in innovation. The case studies presented here are under consideration for our annual awards, but also stand on their own, as narratives that we believe will be useful to our readers across the country and beyond. Separately, we are also presenting the sponsored case studies of vendor partners, which will also add to the catalog of evidence.

We believe that these case studies will add yet more evidence to the growing catalog of success stories across U.S. healthcare, of team-based leadership towards moving our industry forward into the future. We’re certain that these narratives will be of interest across the sector.
