The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed an online interactive tool where many 2017 Advanced alternative payment model (APM) participants can look up their Qualifying APM Participant (QP) status.
In order to comply with the Medicare Access and CHIP Reimbursement Act (MACRA), healthcare providers must take one of two tracks—the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or an advanced alternative payment model (APM).
Through CMS’ interactive tool, which can be found here, physicians can look up their AP status, based on calculations from claims with dates of service between 1/1/17 and 3/31/17 for the first QP snapshot, according to CMS.
CMS says the tool will be updated soon with calculations from claims with dates of services between 1/1/17 and 6/30/17. There are approximately 75,000 National Provider Identifiers (NPI) included in this first QP analysis.
All statistics are based on the following:
A clinician is defined by an NPI.
Eligible clinicians in the Comprehensive Joint Replacement Model are not included.
All eligible clinicians were assessed as part of an APM Entity group.
