Gallup: Americans Slam Healthcare System on Coverage, Access

People have the widespread perception that the overall healthcare system has major problems
Dec. 27, 2024

Gallup’s annual Health and Healthcare poll shows that Americans rate U.S. health insrance coverage below average. Consumers rated the quality of healthcare at its lowest point in the last 24 years of polling.

“The current 44 percent of U.S. adults who say the quality of healthcare is excellent (11 percent) or good (33 percent) is down by a total of 10 percentage points since 2020 after steadily eroding each year,” Megan Brenan reports for Gallup News.

“Americans rate healthcare coverage in the U.S. even more negatively than they rate quality,” Brenan notes.

The report breaks down partisans’ views of healthcare. The report concludes that Republicans have typically been more satisfied than Democrats with the cost of healthcare.

Very few Americans are content with the cost of healthcare. “U.S. adults’ most urgent health problem has been related to the nation’s healthcare system -- namely, cost or access -- rather than specific health conditions,” Brenan writes.

However, when it comes to their own healthcare, Americans rate their healthcare quality and coverage more positively.
