Network Your Way to the Beach (read more below)

Yes. You heard it right!
For the past few weeks my firm has been working on a search assignment for a new IT executive located in a beautiful city by the ocean. We’ve called dozens of IT leaders all over the country to network in the hope that we might fine the perfect candidate for this great opportunity. Nobody wants to live near the beach? C’mon. Are you kidding me?
The point I am making is that you should always keep your network open to new opportunities. It doesn't mean you have to move around year after year. That's not the point! Having a network of leading IT search executives and others in our market who may be able to advance your career is not a bad strategy. I have countless stories of candidates that we reach out to from time to time and they never return our calls. However, when their world turns upside down, a new CEO joins the organization and they feel like their job could be in jeopardy. Then,,, they begin to speed-dial our offices daily (sometimes several times a day) hoping we can help them find their next gig right away.
ABN = Always Be Networking....
Develop your network NOW – while you are not looking. You never know what the future holds.
Now back to my dilemma…
My guess is that because the weather is gorgeous in most places in US this summer that most of us are not looking for greener pastures in a warmer climate. I promise you that if we were looking for a new IT leader in the middle of January – our phones would be ringing off the hook.
Did I mention we are looking fir an IT leader in a city by the ocean? Didn’t think soJ
