athenahealth selected to power population health initiatives for Dignity Health
athenahealth, a provider of cloud-based services and mobile applications for medical groups and health systems, today announced that Dignity Health has selected athenahealth’s end-to-end population health service, athenaCommunicator Enterprise, to support and optimize its robust population health initiatives.
Based in San Francisco, Dignity Health is the largest hospital provider in California and one of the largest health systems in the nation. Its twenty-one-state network comprises nearly 9,000 physicians across more than 400 care centers, including hospitals, urgent and occupational care, imaging centers, home health, and primary care clinics. Dignity Health will utilize athenahealth’s risk stratification, analytics, and care management capabilities in order to gain better insight into its patient populations, streamline communications, and better coordinate care across locations. The partnership between the two organizations occurs as Dignity Health increases its focus on new models for health care delivery.
“Dignity Health is committed to finding better ways to improve patient care, quality, and lower costs in our communities,” says Bruce Swartz, Senior Vice President of Physician Integration, Dignity Health. “These goals require the innovative application of technology and services to make large-scale population health management a reality. We believe athenahealth is the results-driven partner we need to deliver an industry leading integrated care management platform that will help us implement standardized care models across our enterprise.”
athenaCommunicator Enterprise combines cloud-based services with software and analytics to gain insight into populations, coordinate care, control utilization, and improve outcomes while lowering cost.
“athenahealth is honored to support Dignity Health in its pursuit of high-quality, affordable care,” says Jonathan Bush, CEO, athenahealth. “Dignity’s Health’s expansive footprint and commitment to value-based care, paired with our dedication to generate clinical and financial results, presents an important opportunity for us to showcase the power of our network knowledge and work model. We are thrilled at the challenge in front of us, and we look forward to helping Dignity Health define what success under new care models looks like.”
