CMS Publishes Timeline for Transition to All-Payer OASIS Data Collection

Jan. 1, 2025
The all-payer OASIS data requirement is set to start in 2027

The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has laid out an action items timeline for the transition to all-payer Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) data collection and submission.

Joyce Famakinwa explained for Home Health Care News  on December 26 that home health providers will be required to collect and submit OASIS data for more patients, which means non-Medicare and non-Medicaid payer sources, as well as individuals who self-pay.

“CMS noted that home health providers will need to update their workflows to meet the new data submission requirements,” Famakinwa reported.

CMS stated on a data fact sheet that it expects to use this all-payer data to gain a better understanding of the overall quality of care provided by Medicare-certified HHAs to the patients they serve, regardless of payer source.

On November 1, CMS issued the Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Home Health Prospective Payment System (HH PPS) final rule, which updates Medicare payment policies and rates for Home Health Agencies (HHAs).
