AHRQ Calling for Data on Mobile Apps and Technology to Treat Diabetes

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is seeking scientific information from the public regarding mobile health technology for diabetes.

According to a notice in the Federal Register, posted Monday, AHRQ is seeking scientific information to inform its review of mobile health technology for diabetes, which is currently being conducted by the AHRQ’s Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC) Program. Access to published and unpublished pertinent scientific information will improve the quality of this review, the agency said.

The agency is looking for data on completed studies and ongoing studies how mobile applications and technology treat diabetes. The agency plans to perform a systematic review looking into areas such as which specific mobile health technologies for diabetes self-management have been researched and what patient outcomes are associated with the use of these specific mHealth technologies as well as what are the harms and costs associated with specific mHealth technologies.
