May 21, 2010

Somerset, NJ – May 12, 2010 – Wellsoft announced today that FirstHealth of the Carolinas is live with Wellsoft’s Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) at Richmond Memorial Hospital, the second hospital in their healthcare system to implement Wellsoft EDIS. Wellsoft first implemented Wellsoft EDIS at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina in 2001.

Richmond Memorial Hospital, a community hospital located in Rockingham, North Carolina, serves emergency, outpatient and acute care needs of people of Richmond county and surrounding areas. More than 27,000 patients are seen in the emergency department every year. Richmond Memorial Hospital installed Wellsoft EDIS to help realize its strategic goals of providing an efficient emergency department and enhancing patient care. This installation also supports the goal of continuity of care across the FirstHealth of the Carolinas health care network.

Wellsoft’s system was custom-configured to tightly integrate into the ED work flow and meet the best practice needs of the physicians, nurses and specialists at Richmond Memorial Hospital. In addition to patient tracking and clinical documentation, Wellsoft implemented risk management, medication management, medication reconciliation and drug/drug and drug/allergy interaction checking, among other features. Wellsoft’s implementation specialists analyzed patient flow and throughput to customize the Wellsoft solution to help Richmond Memorial Hospital reach their efficiency and patient satisfaction goals.
