The Roseville, Calif.-based not-for-profit, integrated health care system, Adventist Health, has teamed with Cerner (Kansas City, Mo.) to digitize its care processes across 130 outpatient clinics that are part of the Adventist system. Each clinic will get Cerner’s Ambulatory EHR software as part of the new agreement.

According to Cerner, the latest roll out includes the largest collection of rural health clinics in California.

Adventist, which provides care across four states (California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington) in 18 hospitals, more than 135 clinics (rural health and physician clinics) and 14 home care agencies, implemented Cerner’s EHR in 2001. The relationship expanded when Adventist implemented Cerner’s BeyondNow software in 2009 for its home care agencies.

“This IT expansion project will enable Adventist Health to maximize its patient-centric focus by delivering clinical information systems within a single platform, and thus providing optimal health care information across the patient’s continuum of care,” said Alan Soderblom, vice president and CIO of Adventist Health, said in a statement.

Cerner is collaborating with Adventist Health on implementing a number of other solutions that align both companies’ long term goals of digitizing patient care. This includes Cerner’s Best in KLAS Remote Hosting Option, which provides proven and predictable data center services along with Discern nCode® computer-assisted coding and Cerner Patient Portal. Adventist Health is also working with Cerner on advancing their revenue cycle solutions.
