Mayo Chooses Epic for Integrated EHR, RCM

The Mayo Clinic, the Rochester, Minn.-based research, education, and health organization, is choosing Epic Systems as its vendor to roll out enterprise wide integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle management (RCM) systems.

The Mayo Clinic, the Rochester, Minn.-based research, education, and health organization, is choosing Epic Systems as its vendor to roll out enterprise wide integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle management (RCM) systems.

The health system, which has locations throughout the country, announced the choice on a blog. Currently, it uses three EHR systems.

“We’re confident in choosing Epic as our strategic partner as we continue to enhance Mayo Clinic’s excellence in health care and medical innovation,”  John Noseworthy, M.D. Mayo Clinic president and CEO, said in a statement.

Mayo says the system will be built 2015 and 2016, with implementation currently planned to begin in 2017. They are currently choosing will make up the project team, including staff from Mayo, Epic, and external consultants. They plan to train 45,000 Mayo staff on how to use the systems.
