A new poll of electronic health record (EHR) end-users reveals that Mobile, Ala.-based CPSI is the top ranked vendor system in terms of customer-experience for rural and critical access facilities.

The poll, from the New York-based Black Book Market Research's Black Book Rankings, ranked inpatient EHR vendor for hospitals under 100 beds including rural and critical access facilities. CPSI was on top, marking the fourth straight year the vendor was ranked as having the top system for this category. CPSI was ranked 43rd in last year's HCI 100.

Other top ranked vendors include some of the industry heavyweights: Allscripts, Cerner, Epic Systems, GE Healthcare, McKesson, Meditech, NextGen, and Siemens Medical. All were ranked across various acute care subgroups.

"Hospital leaders are seeking empirical data from EHR users to make informed vendor choices, particularly those switching systems or replacing home grown EHRs. Viable EHR vendors are actively supporting their clients past implementation, and demonstrating best-of-breed technologies through innovative solutions,"  Doug Brown, managing partner of Black Book Rankings, said in a statement.

In a survey from July, Black Book revealed that eight vendors were the top ranked in the replacement buyers market. Those eight vendors were:

> Vitera
> Practice Fusion
> Care360 Quest
> Cerner
> Greenway
> GE Healthcare
> ChartLogic
> athenacare
