Molina Healthcare, Inc., has announced that its subsidiary, Milina Healthcare of Michigan, has joined the Michigan Health Information Network (MiHIN) as a Qualified Data Sharing Organization (QO). Molina Healthcare of Michigan is one of the largest health-maintenance organizations in Michigan, serving 244,000 members as of the end of June, 2014.

Molina healthcare’s first information sharing collaboration within Michigan will involve MiHIN’s Statewide Admit, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) Notification Service. By participating in the statewide ADT service, which it says is a legally and technically secure means to help coordinate care for patients with multiple providers and with payers, Molina will securely receive ADT notifications whenever members are admitted, discharged, or transmitted from a care facility. ADTs will be sent through MiHIN’s network, which now receives 77 percent of the admissions statewide.

By joining the network, Molina will be able to participate in transferring and receiving patient care information under the MiHIN legal structure. After activating the ADT service, Molina can activate additional services representing a variety of health information scenarios, such as medication reconciliation and clinical quality measures. This coordinated care data will be provided electronically to the point of care, giving doctors a more complete picture of a patient’s medical condition and history.
