Novant Health Becomes First Org to be Revalidated with Stage 7 Ambulatory Award
HIMSS Analytics has revalidated 441 Novant Health clinics, located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia with Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.
Last year in April, HIMSS Analytics introduced its revalidation program to ensure the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model (EMRAM) continues to reflect industry best practices so that Stage 7 organizations reflect the optimal use and sharing of patient data toward improved healthcare quality, safety, and operational efficiencies. To revalidate, Stage 7 organizations must complete the process in the year between the second year anniversary of the original validation and its expiration.
Developed in 2011, the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model provides a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Logic. As of the fourth quarter 2015, only 7.89 percent of the more than 36,000 U.S. ambulatory clinics in the HIMSS Analytics Logic received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition from HIMSS Analytics,” said Dr. Keith Griffin, chief medical information officer for the Novant Health medical group. “At Novant Health, we are committed to making healthcare more convenient and easier to access for the communities we serve. This award speaks to the continued partnership with our physician clinics in using technology to provide remarkable patient care across our organization’s footprint.”
John H. Daniels, global vice president, healthcare advisory services group, HIMSS Analytics, added, “Novant Health continues to demonstrate its commitment to EMR optimization. They have made great progress since implementing their EMR and remarkably can show a full return on their IT investments in half the estimated time.”
Novant Health will be recognized at the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 19-23, 2017, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
