Walgreens has developed a skin care platform that will be available digitally through Walgreens.com and the Walgreens mobile app and includes a connection to teledermatology services.

The platform features informational resources and content and will also enable visitors to connect with DermatologistOnCall teledermatology service available through Iagnosis, which offers online dermatology consultations with board-certified specialists, according to a Walgreens announcement.

In the past year, Walgreens has moved forward on a number of digital health offerings, including its partnership with MDLive to offer telehealth services to consumers in 25 states, its mental health platform that provides access to behavioral telehealth and the Walgreens mobile app pill reminder for medication adherence.

“More than 2 million people visit our digital channels each day, and this is another way we can help address access challenges by giving our customers more convenient channels and resources to meet their health care needs,” Greg Orr, Walgreens vice president of digital health, said in a statement.

The platform includes DermatologistOnCall, a teledermatology-focused telehealth network offered by Iagnosis, for online dermatology scheduling and consultation as well as information about common skin conditions sourced from WebMD. In addition, the platform includes basic skin and product recommendations through Walgreens Pharmacy Chat, which offers live online chat conversations 24/7 with members of Walgreens pharmacy staff.

Harry Leider, M.D., Walgreens chief medical officer, said in a prepared statement, “The teledermatology offering and collaboration is a natural extension of some of the services we already provide and can serve as a resource for screening and potential early diagnosis of a variety of skin conditions.”
