The Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill., has launched an online eVisit patient portal where patients with certain specific symptoms can now submit their medical questions to their primary care physician, be diagnosed, and receive care via an electronic visit.

Patients will be able to log into MyCarle to select eVisit, choose the condition, and then answer specific questions about their symptoms.  The provider can then make a diagnosis and recommend treatment— including prescriptions and other instructions as needed online.  The doctor will respond to the patient’s request within four to six hours Monday-Friday during normal business hours.  If the provider determines that the patient’s condition is more complex, the patient will be asked to schedule an office visit.

eVist is for patients who have a MyCarle account and are established in a primary care physician’s practice.  Patients will be charged a $35 flat rate for each eVisit, once the provider has responded with a diagnosis or recommendation and the eVisit has concluded.
