On Oct. 25, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) will open a new, interactive Cybersecurity Hub as a flagship component of the HIMSS Innovation Center located in downtown Cleveland.
In a press release, HIMSS described the cybersecurity hub as an “immersive learning environment aimed at de-mystifying the evolving threat landscape for executives, healthcare providers, IT professionals, policymakers and the general public.”
The cybersecurity hub will be an in-person exhibit that enables visitors to interact with a series of standalone interactive modules that present various security-related scenarios and guided through different vendor solutions for addressing them. “The multi-sensory journey demonstrates how various points of care connect through electronic data, the security risks that can be encountered and the latest solutions designed to mitigate risk,” HIMSS officials stated.
The hub is located within the HIMSS Innovation Center, the health IT floor of the Global Center for Health Innovation, in the heart of downtown Cleveland.
“A strong cybersecurity framework is critical to our nation’s health infrastructure. We must protect patients’ safety and providers’ ability to deliver high-quality care,” HIMSS North America executive vice president Carla Smith said in a statement. “At HIMSS, it’s our responsibility to help stakeholders understand the breadth of security challenges we face, and to effectively address these challenges. We believe that the educational information, product solutions and resources offered by the Cybersecurity Hub will be an important cornerstone in addressing these significant challenges.”
