Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced the launch of a personal computer (PC) that officials say is tailored to combat customer pain points like security, infection control, and telemedicine in the healthcare industry.

The product, called HP EliteOne 800 G3 Healthcare Edition All-in-One (AiO), is equipped with various HP’s security features—such as BIOS protection and multi-factor authentication—aimed to protect the healthcare sector from ever-increasing cyber attacks, ransomware and malware.

What’s more, as HP officials have noted that with telemedicine estimated to grow 35 percent per year, video and audio conferencing are playing an increasingly important role in care delivery. That’s why, they say, the new EliteOne Healthcare Edition “offers collaboration and premium audio features, such as HP Audio Boost, HP Noise Cancellation and audio by Bang & Olufsen, so healthcare providers can have crystal clear audio communication with patients, even if they’re thousands of miles away when tending to them.”

“As patient needs evolve, healthcare providers are under increased pressure to provide quality care while quickly adapting to changing dynamics in their industry,” Reid Oakes, senior director of worldwide healthcare at HP Inc., said in a statement. “Increased security threats, the need to better manage infection control across all touch points—including technology—and finding new ways to collaborate between healthcare professionals and patients were some of the many factors that went into designing our first All-In-One for the healthcare industry.”

The HP EliteOne 800 Healthcare Edition AiO will be available in July for a starting price of $1,299, according to a company press release.
