Imprivata delivers "hands-free" authentication solution, new Cortext capabilities

This morning, at HIMSS15 in Chicago, Imprivata announced an innovative new hands-free authentication solution designed specifically for healthcare.  This new technology allows users to wireless retrieve and verify a one-time password from their mobile devices without a keystroke with Imprivata Confirm ID™, the first integrated security solution that offers identity-proofing with healthcare use in mind.  This new authentication solution meets DEA requirements for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS)--allowing fast, secure and convenient two-factor authentication.

Omar Hussein, president and CEO of Imprivata, says this solution is a game-changer.  “Imprivata’s new hands-free authentication technology is a significant breakthrough in healthcare IT, demonstrating how security can be made invisible and convenient to users to optimize clinical workflows.  Imprivata continues to deliver cutting-edge products that help solve some of our customers’ most critical challenges, and we believe our new proximity-based hands-free technology delivers the fast, convenient two-factor authentication necessary to drive adoption of EPCS.”  The solution will allow physicians to log-in to a variety of platforms without having to break clinical workflow.

In addition, Imprivata has announced enhanced capabilities for Cortext, their award-winning secure communications platform.  Those capabilities included new secured provider-to-patient messaging, enhanced nursing communications, extended communication to affiliated providers, and emergency mass notification.  These enhanced capabilities ensure secure messaging both inside and outside hospital walls--and are supported on a variety of desktop and mobile platforms.
