Solution Aims to Improve Billing Process
Franklin, Tenn.-based Passport Health Communications Inc. and Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Brightree LLC are partnering to provide patient insurance eligibility verification as an integrated service within Brightree's business management software solution, according to the companies.
By verifying coverage and benefits prior to service or product delivery, the solution will increase the speed and accuracy of billing, reduce rejections and denials, improve staff productivity and increase cash flow, they say.
AT&T Launches Mobile Paging for Healthcare
Dallas-based AT&T is teaming with Toronto-based Wallace Wireless Inc. to offer Wallace Information Communicator (WIC) Pager, a premium group alert notification solution for hospitals and healthcare organizations to help address their productivity, security and coverage needs.
According to the company, the solution provides tightly integrated communication between healthcare professionals and hospital departments by enabling centralized administration, group notification and real-time delivery statuses identifying when alerts have been sent, received, opened and responded to.
New Practice Management System Introduced
Alpharetta, Ga.-based McKesson Corp. rolled out a new practice management system. McKesson says the Horizon Practice Plus 12.0 is designed for hospital-employed and large to mid-sized physician practices.
This latest release features advanced scheduling and billing capabilities designed to streamline workflow and remove complexity from financial and administrative processes, it touts. Horizon Practice Plus received the Best in KLAS Award for Practice Management (26-100 physicians) in the 2010 Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services report, with 100 percent of survey respondents indicating they would buy the solution again.
PACS iPad App is Announced
Ridgefield, Conn.-based CoActiv Medical announced its new EXAM-PACS touch screen image viewing for Apple iPad large-screen digital viewing and communications device. Based on the existing EXAM-PACS iPhone image viewing system, the company says the iPad system will support bi-directional data communication between a PACS and any iPad using the new device's built-in Wi-Fi capabilities. In addition, it says this version of EXAM-PACS for iPad will also be fully compatible with the Apple iPad 3G model scheduled for release in April. The updated 3G model will allow connectivity for anywhere, anytime image viewing.
CoActiv EXAM-PACS iPad support enables secure DICOM Query/Retrieve functionality and also allows files to be pushed directly to the device over Wi-Fi and 3G connections. Once images arrive on the mobile device, they may be viewed using scroll, pan, zoom and window & level and measurement functions with the touch screen. All manipulated and annotated images may be instantly saved locally on the device as JPG files and e-mailed or sent via messaging, CoActiv touts.
