Mayo Clinic Sells Mobile Platform

Mayo Clinic has sold mRemedy, a company formed by Mayo and DoApp Inc. that offers a mobile healthcare platform to providers, to Axial Exchange, a Raleigh, N.C.-based virtual software-as-a-service company. The platform, myTality, aims to help patients navigate future hospital visits, and help hospitals better market their services. Axial plans on using it in conjunction with its care-transition platforms, Axial Patient and Axial Provider.

The deal, brokered by Axial’s lead venture capital investor Canaan Partners, provides the vendor with with access to consumer content from MayoClinic.com, which offers patients various general healthcare related information, including stuff on nearly 1,000 conditions and diseases.

In addition, four Mayo Clinic physicians will join Axial’s Advisory Board including Paul Y. Takahashi, M.D.; Nathan Jacobson, D.O., and two others to be named.

“Patients and their families want and expect the most up-to-date information about life, health, disease and treatment,” Dr. Paul Takahashi, associate professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic, said in a statement. “Mayo Clinic’s health information content will now reach even more people, providing accurate answers to common and uncommon health issues.”
