Vermont Family Practice Wins HIMSS Award
The Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) has named White River Family Practice, in White River Junction, Vt., as the winner of its annual Ambulatory HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence.
The Nicholas E. Davies Award, having been in place since 1994, has recognized excellence in use of the electronic health record to successfully improve quality of care and patient safety while achieving a demonstrated return on investment. To win this year’s ambulatory version of the award, White River Family Practice (WRFP), a independent ambulatory care practice with six family physicians, three family nurse-practitioners, and a support staff of 14, created an EHR-supported collaborative environment.
The EHR led to improvement of chronic conditions like ischemic vascular disease, asthma, and diabetes for WRFP patients, which has allowed the provider to become Level III Patient Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
“White River Family Practice has used the EHR technology platform to support a unique, quality focused care delivery environment where every staff member works collaboratively to deliver evidence-based, high quality care and produce measurable improved patient care outcomes,” stated John Bender, M.D., chair, Davies Ambulatory Committee, and Medical Director, Miramont Family Medicine, in Ft. Collins, Colo.
The provider will be recognized at the 2014 HIMSS Conference in Orlando.
