Surescripts Adds Vitera, Meditech to Network
Arlington, Va.-based Surescripts has added the electronic health record (EHR) software from MEDITECH and Vitera Healthcare to its clinical network, which allows providers who use those systems to exchange heatlh information through Direct secure messaging capabilities.

The hospitals and integrated delivery networks with EHRs can that connect through Surescripts are able to select it as their their health information service provider (HISP) to connect to care providers within a healthcare community through a single point of connectivity.
In May, 15 state or regional HIEs, one HISP two EHR vendors (Cerner and Quest Diagnostics), and a healthcare system (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) joined the network. Thus far, Surescripts claims its network is integrated into more than 600 EHR applications, connected with more than 500,000 care providers, and processes more than six billion transactions per year.
