Epic Systems (Verona, Wisc.) will integrate its oncology information systems with chemotherapy order templates created by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, which is a not-for-profit alliance of 25 of the world's leading cancer centers.

Epic Systems (Verona, Wisc.) will integrate its oncology information systems with chemotherapy order templates created by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, which is a not-for-profit alliance of 25 of the world's leading cancer centers.

The templates include information on chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens with literature support, supportive care agents, monitoring parameters, and safety instructions. This will be available to end users of the Epic system, which creates treatment plans based on standard protocols.

“NCCN is pleased to collaborate with Epic on this new offering which indeed benefits patients with cancer,” Robert W. Carlson, M.D., CEO of the NCCN, said in a statement. “Access to the templates within their EHR will assist physicians in ensuring that they are ordering the latest evidence-based chemotherapy regimens for their patients in both the academic and community settings.”
