A recent report from NextGov indicates that the Pentagon has whittled down the contenders for the Department of Defense's mega electronic health record (EHR) contract, valued at approximately $11 billion, to three teams.
The three teams, according to NextGov, are Computer Sciences Corp/Hewlett-Packard/Allscripts; Epic/IBM; and Leidos/Accenture/Cerner. The team led by PricewaterhouseCoopers, with Google and many others, was eliminated from competition. Also eliminated was a fifth team that included InterSystems. The winner of the Department of Defense Healthcare Management Systems Modernization (DHMSM) electronic health record (EHR) contract will aim to redesign and “modernize” the military health system’s IT infrastructure.
The bids for the contract were finalized this past fall and the Pentagon has been reviewing them ever since. The decision is expected to be finalized and announced by the spring of 2015.
