Quality Systems Inc. (QSI), an Irvine, Calif.-based health IT vendor, has acquired Gennius, a Cambridge, Mass.-based healthcare data analytics company for an undisclosed sum.
QSI, which is the parent company of NextGen and Mirth,  says it will use Gennius' ability to harmonize patient, administrative, and financial datasets. The acquired company's analytics engine, which was founded in 2002, is used by healthcare organizations to submit measurement results for various reporting programs, such as meaningful use, accountable care organization quality metrics, and the physician quality reporting system.
“By integrating Gennius’ extensive data analytics and reporting capabilities with NextGen Healthcare and Mirth solutions, we are bringing to market the analytics-based enterprise system needed to provide actionable data intelligence to all agents involved in the community of care delivery. This further strengthens the position of the company and that of our clients for continued success and growth amid the new pay for performance arena," Steve Plochocki, president and chief executive officer for QSI, said in a statement.
