NTT Data, a Japan-based IT services provider, has acquired Dell’s IT services operations for $3.05 billion, according to multiple news media reports on March 28.

The agreement reflects NTT Data’s continued focus on expanding its brand globally, the company’s officials said. According to a USA Today report, the sale of the Dell Services division is part of Dell's strategy to sell some non-core assets as part of its $60 billion-plus deal to acquire storage and software maker EMC Corp. Dell Services is recognized for its depth in vertical industries and for its offerings around infrastructure services, cloud services, application services, and business process outsourcing.

NTT Data, with U.S. headquarters in Plano, Texas, ranked 45th in last year’s Healthcare Informatics 100 list, an annual ranking of 100 vendors with the highest revenues derived from healthcare IT products and services earned in the U.S. based on revenue information from the previous year. The company reported a U.S.-based health IT revenue of $230 million in 2014. The company specializes in revenue cycle management, accounting, and mobile solutions.

“NTT Data is pleased with the unique opportunity to acquire such high-caliber talent, and a corporate culture that shares common values with NTT Data, with emphasis on ‘Clients First,’ ‘Foresight,’ ‘Teamwork,’ and a commitment to innovation,” Toshio Iwamoto, President and CEO of NTT Data Corporation, said in a statement.
